Aftercare Advice for (Liquid and Powder) Enhancements
Like all cherished possessions nail enhancements need care and attention to maintain their elegance. Here are some tips to help you:
- Treat your nail enhancements with the same care that you would lavish on your natural nails, were they of the same length and condition. Treat your nails as JEWELS NOT TOOLS.
- Normal everyday chores i.e. housework etc do not affect the nails; however it is advisable to wear rubber gloves. This will also protect your hands and keep the skin soft and smooth.
- Enamel should not be changed too frequently but if required you must use a non acetone remover. After removing the enamel, lightly buff the nail to restore shine, then proceed as for natural nails. Apply a base coat as this will help avoid discolouration.
- Do not push back the cuticles as this will enhance the gap between the enhancement and the natural nails and rebalances will be required more frequently.
- Cuticle oil should be massaged into the nails several times a day to help maintain their condition.
- MOST IMPORTANT, have regular rebalances. Rebalances are required every two weeks. Leaving too long between rebalances costs you time and money and may cause problems with the natural nail. If you have regular rebalances the enhancements will last much longer and maintain their immaculate and natural look.
- Allow yourself a few days to become accustomed to your new nails. Many people who have enhancements for the first time have never had long nails before and have to adapt to new ways of, for instance, doing up buttons, opening car doors etc. This will soon become second nature as anyone with their own long nails will tell you.
- OCCASIONAL NAILS. These are only the demi tips without the overlay. They are very temporary nails and should be treated with a lot more care. However, although not long lasting they are great for a 'one off' occasion.
- MOST IMPORTANT do not try to remove the nails yourself or you will damage your nail plate. ALWAYS have them professionally removed.
Nail enhancements need far less attention than your natural nails. The nail enamel (if required) will remain perfect for at least twice as long and should need no attention until rebalances, when we will change the enamel for you. Therefore you will have around two weeks without having to spend valuable time on your nails.
